February 2012 | Newsletter

Dear [FIRST NAME],

Our new studio, located at The Mill Works, is already proving to be a great space to immerse oneself and be inspired. The paint is flowing off the brush and we've had a great first session in all three of our weekly painting classes being offered. The studio has an amazing energy and everyone that comes to visit or paint, doesn't want to leave. The location, just off I-84 in Willington CT, makes for an easy commute too.

Look for the April dates for our Spring Open Studio & Grand Opening which will be posted in our March Newsletter!

Our 2012 workshops and classes have just recently been added to our gallery websiteand we've also listed the basic information here for your convenience. By going to our website, you can view the details of each workshop.

Our next indoor workshop is a one day workshop all about color. It will be held in our new studio on Sunday March 4th from 10-4PM. Come learn about color palettes, learn how to make use of color vibration, learn about placement of analogous colors in a painting to achieve active color intensification, The Rule of Three and much more. This workshop goes beyond color theory and teaches you how to use these color concepts in your paintings.

David & Pam have collaborated with other professional painters based in Connecticut to form an active new group of eight artists. The Pitkin Street Painters will be having their first show at Hartford Fine Art & Framing, 80 Pitkin Street, East Hartford CT from Mid February through April. The opening reception for the public will be held on Friday evening March 2, from 6-8PM. Please join us for this inaugural event.

David will be doing a painting demonstration for the Middletown Art Guild on Thursday, March 8 at the Middlefield Federated Church Hall, 402 Main Street in Middletown CT

We'll both be involved with galleries, exhibitions and some plein air events in 2012 too. David will be participating in the Wayne Plein Air Festival in Wayne PA, which takes place from May 15th - May 19th. David has participated in this event annually, since it's inception six years ago. We will be adding information about more events and exhibitions to our website as dates become finalized.

NEW PRODUCT!!! Painters who have studied with us know how much we emphasize the understanding and use of the 'Value Scale'. Value and color go hand in hand and you simply cannot have one without the other. It's important to have a value scale with you when painting indoors or out. Value scales that are sold in art supply stores are really made for the photographer and not the painter. They are not bracketed for a painter. We now have disposable value scales that come in packs of 20. They are made to be used by placing a small dabs of color right onto the value scale to insure that you have mixed the correct value. They have a protective coating and can be wiped off and used again. The packs cost just $6 dollars and the price includes shipping and handling.

Actual Value Scale size is 2" x 6"

Email us and we will ship you your value scales pronto. John Singer Sargent would approve of these value scales!!!  Email Pam at pam@davidlussiergallery.com

Warm Regards,

David & Pam
