Workshops & Classes
Starting in January, David & Pam will begin 6 week painting classes for various levels. David's plein air workshop schedule for 2012 includes Deer Isle, Camden & Monhegan Island Maine, Whidbey Island in Coupville Washington and Cape Cod Massachusetts.

We will be painting in and around the town and the scenic working harbor. The tide differences are large here and we will take advantage of the low tides to paint around the docks as well as painting the vast array of street scenes. Workshop Hours: 9-4.
Oil Paint- We use Rembrandt Oil Colors
White – 2 Large Tubes (We use Rembrandt Titanium White)
Gamblin also has a (Flake White Replacement) also a good white
Cadmium Yellow Light
Alizarin Crimson or Permanent Madder Deep
Ultramarine Blue Deep
Viridian Green
Permanent Red. Light
Optional colors: Venetian red, Cad Red Deep, Burnt Umber
Brushes
Bristle Brushes – even sizes 2-10 (Robert Simmons series 42 is our favorite.)
We use mostly FILBERTS. A couple FLATS are good to have too.

Odorless Turpentine (Thin-X) or Gamsol
Painting Medium (We use a mixture of 1 part stand oil to 4 parts Thin-X or Gamsol) We mix this up in a container prior to outdoor painting.
Liquin or a fast drying gel medium-helps to get the initial layer to set-up
Zec (optional) by Grumbacher – this will be used in the final layers to build up the paint and gives the paint more body.

Canvas – 8”x10”, 9”x12” and 11”x 14” are good travel sizes.
Ease l– Pam uses a Julianne French Easel and David uses a Gloucester Easel.

Please note: While we recommend making your own painting medium of 1 part Stand oil to 4 parts Thin-X, you may use whatever painting medium you prefer. Please be sure to mix the stand oil and thin-x into a non-spill container PRIOR to the workshop. It’s not a fun task to do outdoors while your trying to paint!
