This retreat includes painting sessions at wonderful locations in Kennebunkport, Cape Porpoise, Wells, and Ogunquit Maine. Two painting locations each day!
Kennebunkport Maine will be our home for the week. With beautiful views of the ocean and the rocky coastline a short distance away, we will spend our days painting and exploring places within 8 miles of Kennebunkport. This charming seaside village is a world travel destination and there are many art galleries and shops to explore whenever a break is needed.
This is going to be an amazing week of painting immersion in an extraordinary location. This workshop will be run like a retreat and offers you the opportunity to paint-the-day-away with us, along with your fellow artists, standing side-by-side or close by. We know where all the good painting spots are. These painting locations go back to when David mentored and painted the area with George Carpenter in the early 90’s and up until Carpenter’s passing in 2006. Instruction during the week are the critiques, show-and-tell sessions on Friday and Sunday and some good overall nuggets of wisdom and inspiration given throughout the retreat. Students are always welcome to watch David & Pam paint, but are encouraged to open their own paint box and seize the miracle of the day. Each day will be an opportunity to venture not far from our base to paint at several different locations and be inspired by the beauty that surrounds us and by each other, as we work to infuse our paintings with a sense of light and atmosphere. This is an opportunity to follow your passion for painting and see what the week brings. It’s going to be a fun week of turning out paintings and enjoying the camaraderie. Day 1 Thursday - Painting in Kennebunkport.
Day 2 Friday - Painting in Cape Porpoise/ Group Critique & Show-and-Tell
Day 3 Saturday- Visit Ogunquit Museum of American Art & painting along the Marginal Way
Day 4 Sunday - Painting in Kennebunkport or Wells / Group Critique & Show-and-Tell
Day 5 Monday - OPTIONAL- Farewell Breakfast and then painting at Turbats Creek (extended morning of painting for those participants who wish to.
Each day there will be a discussion about dinner possibilities as a group.
